Ambassadeurs et Ambassadrices en Herbe: the art of public speaking at the heart of the AEFE network

The “Ambassadeurs et Ambassadrices en Herbe” programme, led by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), is an international educational initiative that promotes public speaking, multilingualism and cultural openness across French schools around the world. Created in 2012, this oratory competition invites students from primary school to high school to develop their speaking, reasoning and critical thinking skills while engaging with major global themes.

Organized as a tournament, the programme unfolds in several stages: a school-level final, followed by regional rounds and ultimately a world final bringing together students from different countries. Throughout this journey, students strengthen their intellectual curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.

For the 2025–2026 school year, the theme is “Cultivating Creativity and Critical Thinking in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” Through fables and speeches, students from CM1 to 2nde presented their reflections on this topic in the presence of the Director of the Alliance Française and the Vice Consul of France.

At the end of the competition, Imran, Bethel, Charlotte, Enzo, Oyerayo and Marie-Hélène were selected to represent the Lycée Français Louis Pasteur Lagos in the next stage of the competition.
